I was thinking this morning about compliments and how funny it is that the ones you remember aren’t always the obvious ones.
A few years ago, I was on a date with a man I’d only recently met. We’d been talking for ages, laughing about completely random things, when he suddenly looked at me and said:
“You make people feel really comfortable around you.”
That was it.
He didn’t mention my dress, my hair or my figure.
And strangely, it’s probably one of the nicest compliments I’ve ever received.
Of course I enjoy being told I look nice—I’m still a woman after all. 😉 But there’s something different about a man noticing a part of your personality that you didn’t realise he’d been paying attention to.
I remember smiling all the way home that evening.
And yes… I did see him again. 😊
So here’s my question for you today:
What’s the nicest compliment someone has ever given you?
Not necessarily about your appearance. Maybe someone said you were a wonderful dad, that you made them feel safe, that you always made them laugh, or simply that they loved being around you.
I’d love to hear the one you’ve never forgotten.
And gentlemen… remember this next time you’re talking to a woman.
Sometimes “You’re beautiful” is lovely.
But “I noticed this about you…” is the compliment she might still remember years later.
