I was thinking this morning about compliments and how funny it is that the ones you remember aren’t always the obvious ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few years ago, I was on a date with a man I’d only recently met. We’d been talking for ages, laughing about completely random things, when he suddenly looked at me and said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You make people feel really comfortable around you.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That was it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He didn’t mention my dress, my hair or my figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And strangely, it’s probably one of the nicest compliments I’ve ever received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course I enjoy being told I look nice\u2014I’m still a woman after all. \ud83d\ude09 But there’s something different about a man noticing a part of your personality that you didn’t realise he’d been paying attention to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I remember smiling all the way home that evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And yes… I did see him again. \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So here’s my question for you today:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s the nicest compliment someone has ever given you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not necessarily about your appearance. Maybe someone said you were a wonderful dad, that you made them feel safe, that you always made them laugh, or simply that they loved being around you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’d love to hear the one you’ve never forgotten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And gentlemen… remember this next time you’re talking to a woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes “You’re beautiful”<\/strong> is lovely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But “I noticed this about you…”<\/strong> is the compliment she might still remember years later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
